I feel it depends on the reason you're doing it for. If you're submitting your art to a number of groups because you're an attention whore... then that's a bad reason, haha. I don't mind 10+ groups if it's for exposure. Personally, I think exposure is a good thing. ;A; There's one thing I want to achieve in my life: to be able to impact others' artwork and ultimately their lives would be like a dream come true to me. And I feel bad if I reject invitations for my artwork, hahaha.

I think if people invite you to add their art to a group then it doesn't matter how many you enter a piece into. After all, it's not you being desperate to enter them, but rather the people wanting the piece in their group's gallery.

It's a perfect way of exposure, but submitting to more than 200 groups doesn't make sense.

If its over 10 I tend to not even bothr to look at the art cause sady I don't have the time to comment on each one

I used to submit to like 3 o 4 and thought it was too much!! but then the drawback came when I got like 1000 new artwork from the groups I was in and got fed up (and kind of guilty because I almost never checked them) so I just quit the groups that posted like 100 thingies a week and stayed in just 4 that I think are good, but I don't submit anything anymore 8(

I hate it when some people think they can choose for others ex. "what's too much" everyone can do what ever they want and it's true that popular artists don't need so many groups to get feedback, but many others do "':/
But if I have to say I think +30 is quite a lot...

I usually submit to around 10 groups to get people to see my art. But then there are alway's lots of groups who want to submit my art and I rarely say no so, but I don't think any of my pieces goes ober 20-25 ...

I think if you are an artist that usually go unnoticed and really want people to notice their art it's fine to post in more than 10 groups. But maybe if you usually get over 2000 favs and 200 comments outside groups, you maybe just want to post in 2-3 groups

I don't think it matters.If you're asking about how many to submit one at a time and not over time though,than I'd say 25+...

I think any number is fine. To be honest, the 10+ most often comes from groups requesting for works to be in their galleries... and why would anyone ever turn down their goodwill? haha.

If I see that there are 50+ submitions, I don't bother looking through them lol
